Purpose/Objective

To collect garbage, "white goods", heavy trash, limbs and yard clippings on a scheduled basis from residential and commercial customers and to deliver it to landfill and/or compost manufacturers.  To collect curbside recycling.

Description of Operations

The Superintendent gives direct day-to-day supervision to the operations.  Four crews, work four eight-hour days to collect household garbage and yard waste.   One grapple truck crew collects tree limbs. After the Christmas and New Year holidays, the department provides crews on a weekend (Saturday) for the purpose of chipping/mulching Christmas trees.  This mulch is made available to citizens to haul away for their personal use. Every Wednesday, the crews collect recycling material set out at the curb.
