Patrol Division

The Patrol Division is the largest division in the Department and the most visible. This division performs routine patrol functions for the City of Bellaire and is generally the first responding unit to a call for service. The Patrol Division operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Duties performed by officers of the Patrol Division include; routine patrol activities, enforcement of state and municipal laws, traffic enforcement, preliminary criminal investigations, accident investigations, and assisting lost or stranded motorists.

Specialized Units
Specialized units are used to carry out the duties of the Patrol Division. The units include the Bicycle Unit, the Motorcycle Unit, and the Accident Investigation Unit:
  • The Bicycle Unit provides patrol for special events, holiday patrol, or any time this type of patrol will assist in the smooth flow of traffic or the enforcement of criminal laws and the apprehension of persons committing crimes.
  • The Motorcycle Unit is primarily responsible for traffic law enforcement and accident investigations.
  • The Accident Investigation Unit is made up of officer who specialize in advance accident investigation. Members of this unit are either Advanced Crash Scene Investigators or Crash Scene Reconstruction Investigators.
The Patrol Division consists of 3 shifts, and each shift is supervised by a Sergeant and a Corporal.
